PARTICIPATION

1.This Promotion is being run on behalf of  Accolade Wines New Zealand Limited, PO Box 126, Blenheim 7242 (the “Promoter”).

2.Entry to the Promotion constitutes acceptance of these conditions. All entry instructions and prize information published by the Promoter form part of these conditions.

3.The Promotion is only open to entrants who are individuals who: (i) are legal residents of New Zealand living in New Zealand; (ii) are 18 years of age or older; (iii) are not directors or employees of the Promoter or any of its related companies or any of their agencies associated with the Promotion (“Associated Person”); and (iv) are not a spouse, de facto spouse, parent, child or sibling (whether natural or by adoption) of an Associated Person.

ONLINE ENTRY

5.To enter a valid entry in the Promotion, entrants must, within the Entry Period like the Waipara Hills Facebook Page and tag the person they would like to win the Pamper Weekend prize with.

6.All entrants must ensure the Promoter receives their entry during the Entry Period. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any late, lost, incomplete, misdirected, incorrectly submitted, delayed or illegible entries or for any delays or failures in any online communications service or equipment.

7.The Promoter may, at its absolute discretion, declare any or all entries, made by an entrant, invalid if the entrant: (i) fails to establish that he or she is an eligible entrant (in accordance with clause 3 above); (ii) tampers with the entry process or benefits from such tampering; (iii) submits an entry which is not in accordance with these terms and conditions; or (iv) fails to comply with any of these terms and conditions.

8.Entrants may only enter the Promotion once and in their own name. 


PRIZES

9.There is a total of one prize pack to be won. The prize consists of lunch for two at Waipara Hills, winery experience tour with winemaker, one night's accommodation at the 5 star rated Settlers Motel in Hanmer Springs, massage for two at The Spa at Hanmer Springs and Thermal Pool entry and steam or sauna for two.

10.Prize draws will take place before midday Monday 4th May 2015.  
           
11.Winners will be drawn randomly from all valid entries received during the Entry Period, with the exclusion of previous winning entries.

12.All of the Promoter’s decisions are final and binding and no correspondence in respect of such decisions will be entered into.

13. Prizes are not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash. Prizes must be taken as offered and may not be varied.

14. In the event that any aspect of a prize becomes unavailable for reasons beyond the Promoter's control, the Promoter may substitute that aspect of the prize with a prize of equal or greater value.

15. Each Winner takes the prize entirely at his/her own risk and indemnifies the Promoter in respect of any claim for any loss, damage, accident, injury, property damage or loss of life that may occur in connection with the prize. 


WINNERS

16.The announcement of the Winner will be made by notification from Facebook (or on Facebook), at white time the Winner will be asked to contact Waipara Hills privately to make prize collection.  

17.For the winning entry, the only person entitled to claim the prize is the entrant who registered their details within the Entry Period.

18. If any prize: (i) is not claimed by the winning entrant within 2 days of the relevant prize draw; or (ii) is forfeited for any reason, the subject prize will be re-drawn and awarded to another entrant.

19. By accepting these Terms and Conditions, the winning entrant agrees to the use of their full name by the Promoter on the Waipara Hills website or Facebook page, for the purpose of announcing and acknowledging prize winners. 
 

GENERAL

20.If for any reason the conduct or operation of the Promotion is interfered with or disrupted in any way (including by vandalism, power failures, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strikes, computer bugs or viruses, tampering or technical failures), the Promoter reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend or recommence the Promotion.

6.Each Entry must contain only one unique code to be a valid entry.

7.Only mobile handsets operating on a New Zealand mobile network that supports the use or function of texting to a short code or business marking code can interact with this Promotion. Any mobile numbers operating on networks outside of New Zealand will not be entered into the Promotion. PRIZES

13.Each prize is valued at up to $3,000 NZD(inc GST). The total prize pool is valued at up to $12,000 NZD (inc GST).

14.Flights, activities and accommodation are subject to booking and availability.  All other costs associated with the prize, including but not limited to any additional transfer costs, additional meals, additional taxes, insurance and other ancillary costs are the responsibility of the winner as incurred. Each prize is subject to any additional terms and conditions specified by the prize supplier/s.

15.All 3 prize draws will take place on the 2nd of June 2015.  Winners will be drawn randomly from all valid entries received during the Entry Period, with the exclusion of previous winning entries.

16.The prize must be taken within six weeks of the winner being contacted, on the dates specified by the Promoter. The Promoter is not liable in any way if the winner or any of his/her travel companion are unable to travel on the prize dates or if any element of the prize becomes unavailable for any reason. Winners may request to change their flight arrangements for the purposes of extending their trip, but any additional costs incurred will be the responsibility of the winner.

PARTICIPATION
1. This Promotion is being run on behalf of  Accolade Wines New Zealand Limited, PO Box 126, Blenheim 7242 (the “Promoter”).

2.Entry to the Promotion constitutes acceptance of these conditions. All entry instructions and prize information published by the Promoter form part of these conditions.

3.The Promotion is only open to entrants who  are individuals who: (i) are legal residents of New Zealand living in New Zealand; (ii) are 18 years of age or older; (iii) are not directors or employees of the Promoter or any of its related companies or any of their agencies associated with the Promotion (“Associated Person”); and (iv) are not a spouse, de facto spouse, parent, child or sibling (whether natural or by adoption) of an Associated Person.

4.The Promotion commences at 10am Saturday 28th February 2015 and closes on 6pm Sunday 1st March 2015 (“Entry Period”). No entries will be accepted outside of the Entry Period. 

ONLINE ENTRY
5.To enter a valid entry in the Promotion, entrants must, within the Entry Period post a photo taken at The Winery Tour concert held at Waipara Hills on Instagram tagging #waiparahills.

6. All entrants must ensure the Promoter receives their entry during the Entry Period. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any late, lost, incomplete, misdirected, incorrectly submitted, delayed or illegible entries or for any delays or failures in any online communications service or equipment.

7.The Promoter may, at its absolute discretion, declare any or all entries made by an entrant invalid if the entrant: (i) fails to establish that he or she is an eligible entrant (in accordance with clause 3 above); (ii) tampers with the entry process or benefits from such tampering; (iii) submits an entry which is not in accordance with these terms and conditions; or (iv) fails to comply with any of these terms and conditions.

8.Entrants may only enter the Promotion once and in their own name. 

PRIZES
9.There are a total of ten prizes to be won. The prize consists of $60 voucher to be used at the Waipara Hills cellar door or café.

10.Prize draw will take place before 5pm, Monday 2nd March 2015.                         
  
11.Winners will be drawn randomly from all valid entries received during the Entry Period.

12.All of the Promoter’s decisions are final and binding and no correspondence in respect of such decisions will be entered into.

13.Prizes are not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash. Prizes must be taken as offered and may not be varied.

14.In the event that any aspect of a prize becomes unavailable for reasons beyond the Promoter's control, the Promoter may substitute that aspect of the prize with a prize of equal or greater value.

15.Each Winner takes the prize entirely at his/her own risk and indemnifies the Promoter in respect of any claim for any loss, damage, accident, injury, property damage or loss of life that may occur in connection with the prize.

16.Each Winner will be notified by a comment on the Instagram photo on the Monday 2nd March 2015.

17.For each winning entry, the only person entitled to claim the prize is the entrant who registered their details within the Entry Period.

18.If any prize: (i) is not claimed by the winning entrant within one week of the relevant prize draw; or (ii) is forfeited for any reason, the subject prize will be re-drawn and awarded to another entrant.By accepting these Terms and Conditions, each winning entrant agrees to the use of their full name by the Promoter on the Waipara Hills Facebook, Instagram and Twitter social page, for the purpose of announcing and acknowledging prize winners.
 
GENERAL
19.If for any reason the conduct or operation of the Promotion is interfered with or disrupted in any way (including by vandalism, power failures, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strikes, computer bugs or viruses, tampering or technical failures), the Promoter reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend or recommence the Promotion.

‘A vintage for character building’
 
2014 Vintage
 
With the final fruit in the door, tucked up nicely in the throes of ferment; time now allows us to reflect on the fantastic journey of the Waipara Valley growing season, that has let us to this moment.
 
The 2013/2014 summer had a very warm start which encouraged early blossoming in the Waipara Valley vineyards. Barbeques were heating up, and locals were glowing with their summer tans. Many were speculating that 2014 could possibly be one of the earliest vintages Waipara had ever seen. It was an exciting time!

We had a small amount of rain that came through when the Pinot Noir was flowering, the only effects was a smaller yield, something that we now can attribute to the character and intensity of flavour in the fruit.
 
Just as our summer holidays came along, Mother Nature played her card and the temperatures dropped dramatically before Christmas, slowing down the speed of growth.
 
February brought its fair share of surprises, including an out-of-the-ordinary hail storm, which came as a bit of a shock. Thankfully it skimmed the outskirts of Waipara and the vineyards came away unharmed.
 
The 2014 harvest began on the 24th of March with the Chardonnay and Pinot, both of which are outstanding this year. The barrels are already showing an intriguing intensity of flavour with superb character.
 
I think the Pinot Noir will definitely turn heads when we start to show these wines off in due course. Typically we are seeing a combination of earthy, savoury characters and the typical layered fruit flavours in our 10-5 and Abel clones. The 667, 777, 115 and UCD 5 clones are showing lots of richness and texture which will be exciting to have on the blending table.
 
The second half of harvest couldn't have been more different from the start. We had 163ml of rain in April, which was three times the monthly average. The rain provided its challenges to the crews, however the quality of the remaining fruit was paramount and the crews picked when the rain eased ensuring the best was harvested.

We have decided that 2014 will not produce the limited edition Equinox Pinot Gris and Riesling, as the best fruit needs to be put into the Waipara Hills label. However the Waipara Sauvignon Blanc in the Equinox wine this year is exceptional and should hopefully counteract this decision and keep the Equinox lovers happy.
