This wine was crafted from fruit which was carefully selected from primarily Marlborough vineyards (94%), with just a touch from Hawkes Bay (6%).

VINTAGE CONDITIONS

<p>The grape growing season in Marlborough started with some rather cool and unsettled weather during flowering, resulting in low crops across all varieties. The cool weather continued through summer and by the start of April we were seriously worried about reaching the ripeness required. But Mother Nature was on our side and although we can't say it warmed up too much, the weather stayed settled with very little rain pressure and we were able to hang out the grapes until it reached full ripeness and flavour. The fruit was harvested in May, almost a month later than usual. The long season produced some intensely concentrated aromatic whites - a far cry from the green acidic berries we were looking for at the start of the season.</p>

MATURATION

<p>After picking and pressing the individual parcels were tank fermented at warm temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the wines were aged on the yeast less for four months - some parcels were lees stirred in tank to add mouth-feel and generosity. A small portion on this wine undertook full malolactic fermentation to enhance the texture. Prior to bottling, the wine was fined using traditional methods.</p>
